The Shrine

A ritual will take place in a defined space which helps to contain and focus the ritual, allowing us to invite in the forces we want, and shift our reality.

What the space looks like depends on the intention of the ritual. Many call it a sacred space but by doing so it indicates that everything outside of it is not sacred. All of it is the sacred Mother Earth.

The space usually has a spot called a “shrine”, which temporarily becomes the home of spirit for the duration of the ritual. This could be an image, a fire, a mount of earth, a bowl of water with some cloth around it, other items that represent different aspects of the divine, etc.

Some say the more beauty we bring to the shrine, the more it pleases the Other World. It is an expression of love, devotion, and care, aligning us with the purpose of the ritual and allowing us to go deeper. The shrine shifts the energy in the space.
