Rituals allow us to step out of everyday
reality and tap into something larger -
to find meaning and effect a change
in our mundane existence.

The Ritual
The ritual is a set of actions created in a specific space and time that calls on the help of the Other World (spirit, God, Goddess, ancestors, Mother Earth, etc.) to affect a change in the mundane world.
We call upon the Other World to help us navigate through our world that is unknown, feels unsafe, and that we cannot control. We basically are asking spirit to become the driver, though ritual is based on equality and co-creation with spirit and the participants. Even in our relationship with the Divine we cannot give our power away.
For some, ritual is about raising energy or power and directing it to a place or people that need healing or transformation. Others have a deep desire to connect with, communicate, and receive messages from the other world. They enter trance state and have spirit take over.
To get beyond abstractions of the Other World it's important to develop a personal relationship with the Divine. The biggest piece of the ritual is the prayer that comes from the heart and addresses spirit personally.
