Every part of the world is alive, and Nature Spirits – or Elementals – are everywhere… in the depths of the oceans, within the Earth herself, and in the highest reaches of the atmosphere. They attach themselves to practically every natural thing, and can be found among the trees, rivers, plants, bogs, mountains, and minerals. These beings each have their own special functions to perform, and life would not be possible without their activities.
Although Elementals do not have a definite form or appearance, if they choose to show themselves it may be in a form you will recognize and be comfortable with, such as a face in a tree, rock or bonfire, or something that you’ll associate with the element they represent. Nature Spirits inhabit and work with the energies of non-physical worlds, bringing them into the physical. They are referred to by various names including Fae Folk, Elves, Fairies, Devas, Brownies, Leprechauns, Gnomes, Sprites, Pixies, Mermaids, as well as many others. Elementals move between our realm and theirs at their leisure. There was a time when most people believed in Elementals, until the church convinced them they didn't exist.
Many Elementals are believed to be mischievous and like to “play”, causing such occurrences as thunderstorms, blizzards, or raging seas. When they decide to enjoy themselves, it's best to take cover and hope they tire soon. However, contrary to how it may seem, the activities of such Elemental’s are not always destructive. They have their own agenda and a definite purpose.
