Sustainable Living
Sustainable living means using renewable resources at a rate slower than what you can replace and produce. It’s about finding a balance in a lifestyle that gives back to the earth rather than taking from it. Renewable energy is energy from a source that is not depleted when used – thus being “renewable”, or naturally replenished, such as sunlight, wind, and rain.
Living Off The Grid (OTG)
“The Grid” refers to the electrical grid that delivers electricity from suppliers to consumers. Off grid homes do not rely on municipal water supply, sewer, natural gas, or any other utility services. Some go to the extreme of living primitively, cutting ties with all forms of technology and disconnecting themselves from the “system” - materialism, greed, corruption and debt slavery. Others even see it as a necessity in preparation for a global electrical blackout, financial collapse, war, natural disaster, and/or total apocalyptic scenario. However, for most people, life off the grid is about sustainablility, being self-sufficient, using renewable energy, and living “green”, often times even growing their own food.
