Sleepy Man Banjo Boys (12 minutes)
Sleepy Man Banjo Boys began recording videos of them selves practicing in a bedroom at home, and posting them on YouTube. Hailing from New Jersey, the trio included 8-year-old banjo picker Jonny Mizzone, along with his brothers Robbie (11) on fiddle, and Tommy (12) on guitar.
It didn’t take long for this young bluegrass trio to become an overnight sensation, the only such phenomenon in the history of bluegrass music, going back to 1939. Their first album, “America’s Music”, was released in September 2011, and in February 2012 debuted at #8 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Album Chart, spending 11 weeks among the top selling bluegrass albums in the country. Their second release, “The Farthest Horizon”, includes original material and debut at #3 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Chart.
