STEPS OF MOVEMENT
Always respect your body and only attempt what you can do comfortably without injury.
STEP 1) Stand with your arms loosely by your side, with your feet about a foot apart, or whatever feels comfortable.
STEP 2) Do not rotate your hips by moving your entire body. Instead, keeping your upper body straight with your shoulders back, bend your knees slightly and push your buttock forward. Begin rotating your hips, moving slowly and gently. Keep your upper body still and feet grounded. When you get half way around (your buttock behind you - no pun intended), you will begin to feel your midsection stretch.
STEP 3) While continuing to move in this circular motion, raise your hands in front of you, about a foot apart. Slowly move your hands toward each other, palms facing in, until they’re about an inch apart. You will begin to feel a magnetic pull between them – perhaps a tingling sensation or change in temperature. This is ENERGY! If you don’t feel it right away, try again until you do. It could take some practice over time so don’t get discouraged.
STEP 4) Next, allow your arms to guide your movement. Let them hang loosely by your sides with your fingers pointing toward the floor (feet should still remain grounded). Begin moving your arms in a circle - to the right, forward, left, then back in toward your tummy. As your arms move, allow your legs and torso to follow along. Just like swaying, only in a circular motion. You can also try making figure eights.
STEP 5) When you’re ready, reach up above your head, then out to the sides and down again. This should be done gently, expecially at first. Get creative with your arm movements. Rotate your hands around each other, like winding yarn, or “stir the cauldron”. Notice how the energy from your body is expanding outward.
STEP 6) Now it’s time to move your feet and entire body, until you're dancing in the vibration of the music! As always, be sure to fully return at the end of your journey. Travel light…
